Former Whyalla soccer player Lochie Barr has signed for Adelaide United for the remainder of the A-League season after an amazing year with NPL giants Adelaide City.
The ex-Westland United boy has been brought in for defensive cover and after impressing coach Carl Veart (also a former Whyalla player) in training recently as he finally gets his foot in the door for the national competition.
Lochie's dedication to the game can't be questioned as he has embarked on several different paths including Germany and England to make a career in football.
His brilliant season with Adelaide City saw them take out the title and Barr "man of the match " honours in the Grand Final.
His final match for the club came in a narrow 1-0 loss to A-league side Melbourne Victory in the FFA cup in early December before a well deserved break .
"As soon as that game was over I headed to Whyalla to catch up with family and a getaway to Streaky Bay and Coffins," Lochie said .
"It was then I got the call from Adelaide United's director of football about the opportunity to join the squad for the remainder of the season and I headed straight back "
"There's still 20 games to go in the A-league season so hopefully I'll get the opportunity to show what I can do "
We wish Lochie all the best as he follows in the footsteps of Whyalla legends Banovic, Veart, Edwards, Brooks, Scott, Vidarkovic and Sabljak to play in the national competition.
