Bowling season 2021-22 opened in cold and windy weather on Sunday September 12th.
Members were welcomed by Club President Rita Jones who introduced the new committee for the coming season:
- Club Secretary Colleen O'Byrne
- Ladies Bowls Manager Carol Wood
- Mens Bowls Manager Mal Harper
- Committee Member Rick Turnbull
The first Kitty for the season was played by Ann Buckley Runner up in the Ladies Singles followed by the winner of the Mens Singles and hard working green keeper Chris Schrapel.
The game was followed by afternoon tea with guests from the Whyalla BC Brian O.Byrne and Tom Power present.
Pennants commences as follows:
Thursday Pennants October 7th with two colours registered Red and Blue and Open Gender Pennants on Saturday October 9th. 3 colours Red, White. and Blue.
Sunday, September 19 was fine and sunny for the Ladies Invitation Day, the first major competition of the season organised by Games Director Gai Travers.
Players competing from Ceduna, Cleve, Kirton Point, Melrose, Quorn, Wilmington, Port Augusta, ETSA Cowell, Port Lincoln, Laura, Crystal Brook, Tumby Bay and Streaky Bay.
The Whyalla Golf Club is situated four kilometres from the Whyalla City Plaza, opposite the Whyalla Visitor Centre and Maritime Museum, on Alternate Highway 1 (Port Augusta Road) as you enter Whyalla in South Australia.
