Slater, Phillis star in local golf

Only nine players were brave enough to fight last Thursday's hot north windy conditions and the 18 hole stableford competition was reduced to nine holes, the winner of two balls being Diana Slater on 19 points.

Other ball winners were Marcia Smith, also on 19 points, Glenda Davies on 16 points on a countback to Gelske Rogers, also on 16. Diana also came nearest the pin on the seventh hole. Well done Diana.

Val Callaghan was the lucky sweepstake winner. Robyn Phillis was presented with the August monthly medal, for having the highest score in the 18 hole competitions for that month. Congratulations Robyn!

On Tuesday, 7th September, much better conditions, although only 10 players took part in the 9 hole Stableford event, as several members are away playing in the Riverland.

The winner on 18 points was Robyn Phillis, who is playing very well of late. Robyn also won a ball for nearest the pin on the 7th hole.

Runners up were Helen McLean on 17 points on a countback to Catherine Kwaw also on 17 points. Well done ladies. Marge Nicholls was the lucky winner of the sweepstake.
