The 39th Pichi Richi Marathon was held on Sunday, June 27 in ideal conditions, and organisers were delighted with the turnout after last year's event, like so many, fell victim to COVID-19.
Almost 350 people registered to run or walk in either the full marathon, half marathon, 10.5km, 5km, or 1km junior dash with all events finishing on the Quorn Town Oval.
Taking out the full marathon, which started from the Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta West, was Adelaide athlete John Csongei. He finished over 4 minutes clear of David Staehr ffrom kaniva, while Ryan Davis from Whyalla came in third.
In the women's division it was Whyalla's Alice Fiebig who led the way from Victorian Ros Cook and third was Dawn Parks from Adelaide.
In the half marathon, James Fox finished first in the men while Courtney Moyle came out on top in the women.
