Almost one year on, a $1 million dollar lotto prize is still unclaimed, after being purchased in Naracoorte in July last year.
Time is running out for the mystery Naracoorte resident or visitor who scored a $1 million Saturday X Lotto division one prize almost a year ago but has yet to claim their prize.
The mystery winner held a division one winning entry in Saturday X Lotto draw 4069, drawn 18 July 2020. They scored a prize of $1,053,905.78.
The winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Naracoorte, 118 Smith Street, Naracoorte.
As this ticket was not registered to an Easiplay Club card or online account, The Lott officials have no way of contacting the winner and must wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.
Selina Southern of newsXpress Naracoorte said they had no idea who - or where - the winner may be.
"It happened the week of the last week of the Victorian school holidays so there were so many strangers in town, it wasn't funny," she said.
"To try and guess who it was is impossible, we just don't know.
"There was so much hype about it, and I still have people coming in sure that they have won it but they've lost the ticket.
"We get people 18 months after they've won find a ticket in a drawer or glove box, so it could be anywhere - they might have even thrown it out!
"We have no idea who it could be, it could be a Victorian."
In South Australia, division one winners have 12 months to claim their prize directly from SA Lotteries. After this deadline, there is a process to claim prize money from the Lotteries Commission of South Australia, which incurs a cost.
The sole unclaimed South Australian prize is one of the 22 unclaimed division one and major lottery prizes across Australia worth more than $22 million.
ThenewsXpress Naracoorteteam are still eagerly waiting for their division one winner to come forward and hope they are united with their prize soon.
The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said she hadn't given up hope of finding the Saturday X Lotto winner.
""It's been almost twelve months since the prize was won and we still don't know who the winner is or where they could be," Ms Ramsamy said.
"What we do know is the winner could have achieved many personal goals with an extra $1 million in their bank account.
"The possibilities are endless for the mystery winner, and we are anxiously waiting to unite them with their prize!
"We're urging everyone to remain vigilant for any old lottery tickets they may have.
"People tell us they find their winning tickets in the most unusual places, from a car glovebox to the bottom of a reusable shopping bag. We've also heard stories of tickets hiding in plain sight, like on the fridge or in a player's wallet.
"You can check your tickets at any licenced lottery outlet, online at thelott.com or via The Lott app.
"If you realise you're the division one winner we're looking for, hold on tight to that ticket and give us a call immediately on 131 868 to confirm the win and start the prize claim process."
