Kick off UneARTh 2021 with an epic night of music, cabaret and diverse markets, setting the scene for a huge fortnight of Fringe-esque events.
From 5pm-9pm on Friday 19 March, the Ada Ryan Gardens will come alive with a ticketed event that will set the scene for the 10 full days of UneARTh events to follow.
UneARTh organiser Rebecca Nielson says that this year's Festival is like no other and she is urging the community to make the most of the packed program of events.
"Come on down to the Ada Ryan Gardens on Friday 19 March and celebrate the Opening Night with us, it's going to be an amazing and awesome evening.
"And remember, this is a ticketed event so round up your friends and family, work out your numbers and book your tickets straight away.
"It's really important to book to ensure you don't miss out as another of our UneARTh events - 'A Night in the Village' - has already sold out" Rebecca said.
With festoon lighting strung throughout the towering trees, there will be a joyful and fun atmosphere for the popular twilight market with over 40 local and out-of-town stallholders offering a huge variety of unique items and delicious food.
From upcycled and repurposed goods, to soaps and bath bombs, to macrame, jewellery and clothing, there's something to suit all tastes.
Some of the mouth-watering food offerings include Italian street food, Smokey's Uppercuts, spit roasts and more - a licensed bar and locally made craft beer will also be available.
So why not load up your plate, grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere while you listen to DJ Ruby Chew spinning tunes from a fun little custom-built sound and light caravan named "Billie".
And now that dancing is back on the list of COVID-approved activities, you can trip the light fantastic on the custom laid dance floor should the mood take you.
At 7:30pm Fringe favourites 'Frolic and Follies' will hit the stage with a contemporary twist of the phenomenon of the 'Ziegield Follies'.
Featuring spectacular acts of dance, cabaret, comedy and a visual feast of colour, sequins, feathers and sass, enjoy this performance of huge hits and high kicks.
Tickets are $6 per person, or $20 for a family of four - bookings can be made by clicking here https://bit.ly/3uZ4quS
Residents are encouraged to set up their chairs and picnic rugs, settle in and enjoy the evening.
Please note that this is a non-smoking event with COVID Marshalls in attendance, and as per the event's COVID plan there will be only one entrance (Cudmore Terrace) and one exit via the playground side of Ada Ryan gardens.
Further markets will be held the following week on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 at Jessop White Park from 11am-3pm.
