Whyalla Recording Scholarship Winner Jaylee Daniels has made use of a COVID-interrupted twelve months to record and launch her second original single "Tonight".
Last February saw Jaylee perform "Tonight" in Sydney as one of eight finalists in the prestigious Woolworths Australasia Songwriting Competition, with this involvement also seeing her perform in Adelaide.
Jaylee said she was inspired to write the song for the "I Am Here campaign, which "teaches us it's OK to not be OK, and it's absolutely OK to ask for help".
"It's a song about connection, and letting people who may be struggling with depression or sadness know that there is always someone to talk to," she said.
"After the isolated year the world's just lived through, "Tonight" seems even more relevant than before."
The song's production and soon-to-be-released music video have been fully sponsored by mentors Mark Tempany and Alison Hams as a continuance of Jaylee's 2019 Whyalla Recording Scholarship.
"The ongoing uncertainties of Covid meant it wasn't realistic to move towards a new round of WRS yet - and with Jaylee and co-winner Shakira Lea having each written fantastic new songs it's been a logical move to support them in these new 2021 releases," Mark said.
"Jaylee wrote her debut Single "Papa's Song" aged just 15 - seeing her reach Number 7 on the iTunes Australia's Country Chart and just recently notch up over 3000 Music Video Views on YouTube. She's worked incredibly hard since then, and "Tonight" showcases a real maturity in her voice, musicianship, and lyrics" said Alison.
Jaylee Daniels' new Single "Tonight" launches at jayleedaniels.com at Midday on Sunday, February 21.
