Get ready to head to the Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd fans, because Just Floyd are coming to the Middleback Arts Centre (MAC) this weekend.

The 7-piece Pink Floyd tribute band is led by main vocalist Cathy Elsmore, who was born in Whyalla and exposed to music at a young age by her parents Kate and Ken Dowden.

Kate and Ken are well known in Whyalla's musical circles as being part of the band Windsor Smith alongside Paul Travers, Dave Usher and the late Ron Hay.

Mr Usher, who has mixed for many bands in Whyalla, will be returning to the steel city with Just Floyd, and is excited to be mixing the show at the Middleback Arts Centre where he worked for a number of years.

The band have been performing together for seven years and this marks their second show in Whyalla after performing at the Westland Hotel last year.

Their 2 hour & 40 minute performance will showcase many of the popular arrangements from Pink Floyd's award winning albums which including:

  • Dark Side of the Moon (in it's entirety)
  • The Wall
  • Wish You Were Here
  • Momentary Lapse of Reason
  • Animals
  • Division Bell

This will be backed up by a spectacular lighting and visual show to create the ambiance which you would come to expect from a Pink FloydConcert.

Ms Elsmore said she was 'absolutely pumped' to be returning to Whyalla and perform for her friends and family in the MAC.

"We're stoked to be bringing our show to a theatre...it's really special for us," she said.

"Who doesn't know at least one good Floyd song that takes you back?"

Asked what she gets out of performing in a Pink Floyd cover band, Ms Elsmore said she feeds off the crowd during live performances.

"My big role in this band is performing the "Great Gig in the Sky", which demands nothing but the best of what I can deliver," she said.

"That is my moment in the show where I can connect with everybody because they have expectations for that one."

Just Floyd will be performing at the MAC on Saturday, January 23 kicking off at 8pm. To purchase tickets, head to https://www.countryarts.org.au/events/just-floyd-a-voyage-to-the-darkside-of-the-moon/venue/middleback-arts-centre/.
