The Whyalla Lions 'Carols in the Park' team is about to spread their brand of Christmas cheer in a new and exciting way this festive season.

When COVID-19 restrictions stopped the massive event staging in Civic Park, coordinators Stormfront Productions were tasked with the responsibility to produce a 30-minute special edition online video presentation to ensure the spirit of carols lives on in 2020.

Launching at whyallacarols.com at 7.30pm on Sunday, December 13 - the live event's usual start time in front of thousands at Civic Park - the special edition of the carols promises to be a unique and special journey.

Producers Mark Tempany and Alison Hams said the special edition of the carols, which has been filming since September at iconic and unique locations across the greater Whyalla area - would showcase the very best of the community, and the community spirits the carols generates each December.

"Our amazing cast of 50 have worked through the heat, the flies and the wind to give Whyalla, and its extended families and friends all over the world, a chance to share an outback Christmas to end what's been a horrible year for so many," Mr Tempany said.

Ms Hams encouraged the Whyalla community to get behind the video.

"We've taken this very unique circumstance to create an enduring - and quite honestly amazing - video special that captures this moment in time forever," she said.

"We encourage everyone to grab a drink and a slice of Christmas cake and share this beautiful presentation of Whyalla to the world."

Head to whyallacarols.com at 7.30pm on Sunday, December 13 to experience the magic of the Carols in the Park event from the safety of your own home.
