Roos and Central to clash

Saturday's sudden-death preliminary final sees Roopena take on Central Whyalla at Bennett Oval with the winner advancing to next week's grand final to take on powerhouse West Whyalla.

Both contests between the two sides this year were nail-bitters with Roopena winning both encounters by 2pts in round 3 and 5pts in round 8.

The Roos have been very consistent throughout the whole season compared to the Roosters who's form has been a bit up and down but in recent weeks the reds have looked to have got their mojo back.

Both sides deserve to be where they are on the ladder and there's a strong case for both sides as to who wins this game.

It's a toss of the coin to who wins but watching the Roosters in recent weeks I sense their nearly back to their best and I'm tipping them to win by under a goal. Central by 5 points

In the Reserves it's also a battle between the Roosters and the Roos in what should also be a game that goes down to the wire. The Roos have plenty of experienced finals players and I think they will advance to the big one, Roopena by 15 points.

The under 18's game is a rematch of last year's preliminary final between South and Weeroona Bay, in which the Demons won but this time around I sense the Tigers will turn the tables on their rivals and advance to next weeks Grand Final, Weeroona Bay by 13 points

Over the weekend West Whyalla withstood a late charge by Roopena to win an arm-wrestle by 27 points and book their place in their fifth consecutive Grand Final.

The Dragons held the Roos to just one goal for the first three quarters and kicked six themselves to lead 6.8 (44) to 1.3 (9) at the final change.

But, kicking with the wind in the fourth quarter, Roopena rallied. They slotted four goals in the last, but it wasn't enough, and West held on to win 8.9 (57) to 4.6 (30).

Meanwhile an impressive seven-goal half by Central Whyalla saw them run out 44-point winners against North Whyalla in the other Semi Final.
