Thieves deceive resident to steal car

Three young girls who stole a woman's car and handbag have been arrested by police and will face court.

According to police, the trio first gained access to the victim's home on Monday by asking her if they could use the bathroom.

While inside the girls stole the occupant's handbag which contained her purse and the keys to her car before leaving. They later returned that night and stole the victim's Toyota Yaris.

Police investigating the incident located the three suspects on Hincks Avenue Tuesday afternoon and they were arrested. The stolen car was found abandoned in a lane way off of Gallagher Street soon after.

A 15-year-old girl from Whyalla Norrie was charged with two counts of theft, aggravated serious criminal trespass, breach of bail and illegal use of a motor vehicle.

She was refused police bail and appeared in the Whyalla Youth Court yesterday where she was remanded in custody.

Two other girls aged 14 and 11 from Whyalla Stuart, were charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. They were bailed to appear in the Whyalla Youth Court in August.
