A brand new eye-catching display has transformed the Ada Ryan Gardens into a must-see spectacle at night.
The main paths around the gardens now feature powerful in-ground lighting, illuimating the area at night at making it a perfect destination for a late-night or early-morning walk.
Local contractors provided materials and installation works for the project, which provides cost effective ambient light aimed at improving visibility and safety.
A New Zealand product chosen for its rugged design and lifespan while LED fittings with efficient electricity usage and long life span were selected for the lighting.
Installation of the lighting has been completed along three of the main pathways, with final works expected to finish over the next two weeks.
Once the project is complete all lights will be on timers and come on automatically. While the timing is being tested and fine-tuned visitors may notice the lights on during the day.
The additon of the lighting has added to the ambience and aesthetics of the gardens and illuminates the trees and plant life framing the pathways.
The Ada Ryan Gardens is one of Council's most popular parks, located between Cudmore and Watson terraces and linked to the Whyalla Foreshore.
It was the first major park established in Whyalla and was named after the wife of the chairman of the then City Commission, Charles Ryan.
