Whyalla woman grabs Instant Scratch-Its top prize

A Whyalla woman is planning a holiday, among other things, after she was surprised by a receiving a lucky windfall.

On Friday, May 22, the woman discovered she was the winner of $100,000 after purchasing a $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticketat Westland Newsagency.

She thought she had won $10,000 but was surprised when she got the ticket confirmed and it was actually for $100,000.

"I'm over the moon!" she said.

"We thought we had won $10,000 and we were so excited about that!

"There's was another letter on there that we had initially missed.

"When they told me it was $100,000, I started crying and shaking.

"It was such a shock. It's lovely. Just lovely. It was the best surprise."

She said there was plenty she could do with the prize.

"I'll have to really think about it now," she said.

"We definitely need a few new things around the house, and we will put some away for a rainy day.

"And when we're allowed out and about again we'd love to go on a holiday."

Westland Newsagencyteam member Michelle Brine congratulated the winner.

"We've sold quite a few top prize winning scratchies over the years," she said.

"It's always so exciting and even better when it's gone to a local.

"We're so happy for our latest winner."
