Shoppers looking for a bargain while helping the community will be happy to know that both Vinnies shops in Whyalla will be reopening from Monday, May 25.
Vinnies shops statewide closed their doors in late March due to COVID-19 precautions, with many volunteer shopkeepers deemed vulnerable or at risk.
Zone manager Anton Guidace said it was a "sad day" when the stores shut.
"While SA has come on in leaps and bounds since then in terms of minimising the transmission of COVID-19, we couldn't risk the safety and wellbeing of our loyal volunteers. We also felt it was really important to role model the importance of staying at home," Anton said.
He said it had difficult for many of the volunteers, but it had been the "only option" at the time.
"Volunteering at Vinnies has been an integral part of their lives for many years, and it is a really important way for them to maintain connections to their community," he said.
"We also have a very loyal customer base who view Vinnies as more than just a retail destination, and we are very excited about getting 'back to business' on the 25th."
Vinnies Whyalla Essington Lewis will reopen at 9.30am on Monday, May 25, while Westland's shop will reopen half an hour later, at 10am.
The Essington Lewis store is open 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturday.
Westland is open 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm Saturday.
Proceeds from sales at the shop will continue to be put into support services for locals.
