The Whyalla City Council are aiming to make this year's uneARTh Festival bigger (literally) and better than ever, with the marquee event exploding into 12 days of celebrations.

The festival will run from March 17 to 28, with the signature event the community has come to know and love being held at the Ada Ryan Gardens on Saturday, March 21.

Festival Organiser Rebecca Neilson said the event had outgrown its traditional two-day Easter Weekend slot.

"This year's uneARTh is so exciting because it has become a true community event over more than just two days," she said.

"We've seen how popular the music, arts and culture festival has been in Ada Ryan Gardens ... now we are spreading the festival out across the city with 12 days of cool events, activities and features.

"There will still be 12 hours of acts and activities at Ada Ryan Gardens on Saturday, March 21, surrounded by a wide range of partnered events from March 17 to March 28."

This year's award-winning uneARTh starts on Tuesday, March 17 with the Youth Photography Workshop at the uneARTh hub (the old Civic Library).

It then continues on Wednesday, March 18 with the Whyalla Film Festival at the Middleback Arts Centre (MAC) followed by the Eurydice performance at the Okipos Greenmarket and Café on Thursday, March 19.

The Whyalla Art Group has come on board this year as it presents its Grounded Exhibition opening night on Friday, March 20 at the Whyalla Art Gallery.

After attending this exhibition, you'll still have time to make it to the gala event of the festival on Friday, March 20 when Leather Lungs hits the stage for the uneARTh Exposed event at the MAC.

The Friday night extravaganza is the entrée for the Saturday March 21 smorgasbord of entertainment, acts, arts, culture, markets, food and drinks at Ada Ryan Gardens from 10am to 10pm.

Headlined by global act Massaoke, there is a huge program of entertainment on the main stage and throughout the gardens during the day and night.

On Sunday, March 22 it will be the hugely popular Rainbow Run which has this year been coupled up with an uneARTh Treasure Market and family-fun day at Civic Park.

With a slight breather during the week, young photographers have just a few days to enter the Youth Photography Competition as it closes on Friday, March 27 with some of the works appearing in an exhibition Wednesday, April 15 in the uneARTh hub.

The uneARTh Festival then continues when the Whyalla Players present the Aussie Jukebox Favourites with the Whyalla Players at the Croatia Soccer Club on Saturday, March 28.

On Saturday, March 28 they'll also be the Whyalla RFDS Support Group Quiz Night at the Roopena Football and Sporting Club.

And just to be spoiled for choice, there will be Sea Breeze on Saturday, March 28 at the Ada Ryan Gardens with local craft beer tents, food vendors, face painting, jumping castles and fun for the family.

"This is an amazing program of events and activities," Rebecca said.

"You'll need to pace yourself but just check out the festival guide and mark your favourites in the calendar over 12 amazing days as Whyalla comes alive with uneARTh."
