UPGRADE: Whyalla Bowling Club upgraded its player and spectator seating at the northern end of its green.

A grant from the Whyalla City Council has enabled the Whyalla Bowling Club to upgrade its player and spectator seating at the northern end of its green. The grant allowed the area to be concreted and more aluminium seating to be installed. The new seating is an improvement for players (members and social) and spectators who use the lawn bowls facility, replacing unlevel lawn areas, which were unstable for portable wooden benches.

Club members and social bowlers now can sit comfortably along the full length of the northern end with shaded and stable seating. The grant has not only allowed for improved seating, but has also had a number of other benefits for the club. By concreting the area a number of possible tripping hazards have been removed, the portable wooden seats have been removed, maintenance costs have been reduced due to less lawn around the previous smaller concrete areas, and water use has decreased.

This upgrade has been welcomed by teams currently playing in the inter city pennant competition and will be beneficial as summer temperatures rise.

The Whyalla Bowling Club thanks the Whyalla City Council for its continued support of sporting groups within its council area.
