Close-up with a great white

A Robe local and two of his mates had a close-up look at the power of a great white shark while fishing near Cape Jaffa. Fishing 30-kilometres away from Bowdens on a "cracking" spring day with the water clear and no wind, Adam Brooks and his mates Alex Agar and father and son fishermen Rob and Bob Doland set out on their boat 'Mr Bob Tangles' for what would be a memorable day on the sea. Nuclear ballots get go-ahead from councils

Community ballots on the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (NRWMF) have been given the go-ahead by local councils in Kimba and the Flinders Ranges, two of the locations that could hold such a facility. The Kimba District Council voted to go ahead with the ballot, with ballots set to be mailed on Thursday, October 3. The Flinders Ranges Council have confirmed that it will hold a community ballot between November 11 and December 12.
Aiming for Tokyo 2020

Port Lincoln swimmer Jade Calverley has her sights set on her next dream, the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. After competing in state, national and world competitions over the years, she hopes to qualify next year for the Paralympic Games after beating several state records this year alone. From cranes to curls ...
Greg Mayfield - Port Pirie Recorder
Hartley Christensen's career went from cranes to curls. The wharfie retired from the waterfront to become a hairdresser in his wife's salon in Crystal Brook. He became the toast of the women in the district. Read Mr Christensen's reflection on his life and career here.
