Ladies' trophy presentation day nears

What changeable weather golfers have experienced of late with wind, freezing cold air and some warmish days thrown in to make the sport even more challenging. They're the breaks in any sport with some competitors that can perform well whatever conditions they face.

With the ladies' trophy presentation day not too far away there are several competitors who have really stood out. Among them is Val Callaghan, Glenda Davies, Colleen Howell, Thelma Murray, Jacqui Kerr and Helma Bambridge, who have all been in consistent form. No doubt others will poll well!

Wednesday's nine-hole stableford seniors event was won by Tony Jones who amassed 22 points to win the competition from guess who? Yes, it was Bob Clayton who once again lost on a countback. On Saturday, these guys played a nine-hole stableford game whereby Colin Rodda was victorious with a score of 20 points to place Bob Clayton as runner-up on yet another countback. Great game, Col, but I've had to endure all of the tears and hard luck stories! Just joking!

While on the males in our club the members wish Peter Chapman 'Chappy' and Brian Daniels (Danny) all the very best wishes in their recovery from surgery. Reg Hocking is yet another valued member missing in action of late due to illness. The guys all miss Reg who has always a humorous yarn to tell that leaves his audience in stitches.

The Port Lincoln Golfing Seafood Week will commence Monday, September 30 and continue until October 5. Several of our members (both female and male) travel down to this popular event that caters for a variety of golf competitors as well as delicious fresh seafood. The Port Lincoln Open Championship also commences on October 5 (Saturday). Travelling golfers can really make the most of a week-long golf bonanza and probably come home really tired competitors.

The general public can be advised that the golf clubroom is available for many forms of celebrations and supply quality caterers and bar service for the occasion. The upstairs catering area looks out across the beautiful green golf course that provides a scenic vista for patrons second to none.
