In what is an unconfirmed report at this time, the illusive Wally has allegedly been sighted at Whyalla High School.

The news came as teachers donned the famed red, white and blue for Book Week last Friday.

Deputy Principal Jenna Hewlett didn't confirm whether the true Wally was in attendance, but did say that teachers enjoyed coordinating their outfits for the special day.

Teacher Emma Green said students were undertaking a range of literacy and numeracy-based activities, including 'poem in your pocket' and 'six-word short stories'.

"We had a staff vs students quiz that the students really enjoyed,' she said.

Ms Hewlett said the activities were a way of getting students interested in reading.

"As teenagers sometimes the reading does seem to drop off a bit, this is a way to engage them back into their reading," she said.
