Scholarships are still available to residents from Port Augusta, Port Pirie and Whyalla to undertake the Upper Spencer Gulf Leadership program.
These free places are being funded by a number of philanthropic organisations as well as Statewide Super and ReturntoWorkSA and are open to those working in community organisations, community volunteers and those in small/medium or start-up businesses.
The program, offered by the not for profit Leaders Institute of South Australia, will give current team leaders, managers or aspiring leaders the tools and techniques to act strategically and collaboratively and be better able to work through challenges and lead others in positive and effective ways.
Topics covered include leading teams, communicating powerfully, understanding yourself and others and learning how to be an adaptive leader.
Institute CEO Cathie Brown said the program provided a wonderful opportunity for people to grow their leadership capabilities to benefit themselves, their teams, their organisations and their community.
"We have run a similar program in the South East of South Australia and have had rave reviews from employers saying they have really noticed a positive change in the ability of their staff members to see the big picture, step up, communicate and lead with confidence," she said.
"We want to help build the region's next generation of leaders so that you can create and maximise opportunities to benefit the economy and ensure a socially cohesive community.
"The importance of developing leaders is supported by the local councils, Regional Development Australia and business associations."
