A 25-year-old Whyalla Stuart woman has been arrested for drink driving with a child under 16 years in the vehicle.

Just after 12.30am on Thursday, July 18 patrols stopped a red Holden sedan on Jenkins Avenue and the driver submitted to a random breath test.

The driver, who had a permit drivers licence, allegedly returned a positive blood alcohol reading of 0.178, more than three times the legal limit.

The 25-year-old woman from Whyalla Stuart was reported for drink driving, failing to comply with directions, failing to display 'L' plates and having no qualified supervising driver in the vehicle.

She was issued with a twelve month instant loss of licence, her vehicle was impounded for 28 days and she will be summonsed to appear in the Whyalla Magitrates Court at a later date.
