Major Crash Investigators are at the scene of a fatal crash near Cowell, on the Eyre Peninsula.

A motorist came across a single car rollover on the Lincoln Highway, Cowell just after 7am on Saturday 13 July and notified emergency services.

The driver and sole occupant of the Holden Commodore sedan, a 56-year-old local man sadly died at the scene.

The crash location is about 10 kilometres south of Cowell, towards the Cleve turnoff.

Major Crash investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash.

The Lincoln Highway will remain open, but motorists are asked to slow down and take care as emergency service workers are operating in the area. Please follow the directions of any emergency services at the scene.

The State's road toll now rises to 64 compared to 39 at the same time last year.
