Youths arrested after school break-in

Three Whyalla youths aged 10, 12 and 12 have been arrested following a break-in at a local school over the weekend.

About 7.20pm on Saturday 6 July, police responded to a silent alarm activation at a school on Nicolson Avenue, Whyalla Norrie.

Officers discovered significant damage to the library door and internal rooms, but no one was found.

The following afternoon, about midday on Sunday, patrols responded to another alarm activation. This time, after a brief foot chase through the school grounds, two youths were caught.

Following investigations, a third youth was arrested today, Monday 8 July.

The three boys, all from Whyalla Norrie, were charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, property damage and theft and bailed to appear in the Whyalla Youth Court at a later date.
