Code Blue for homeless over next few days

Extras services will be available to the homeless in regional South Australia over the next few days as temperatures are predicted to plummet over the next four nights.

The Code Blue applies to the towns of Ceduna, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Berri, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier from Thursday, June 20 to Monday, June 24.

Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said regional homelessness services would activate local Code Blue plans and work with Housing SA and Homelessness Gateway Service to ensure shelter and outreach services were available.

"For people sleeping rough in these regional areas over the next few days, the Homelessness Gateway Service on 1800 003 308 can help find shelter if you need assistance," Ms Lensink said.

Information about regional arrangements and emergency accommodation is available through the South Australia's Homelessness Gateway. The service will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness is encouraged to contact the service on 1800 003 308.
