Festival State Cup on this weekend

Racing is back at Whyalla Kart Club in 2019, with the opening meeting being the first round of the Festival State Cup.

This is South Australia’s premier Karting series with five rounds across four clubs and the state’s best drivers are expected to travel to Whyalla for a big weekend of racing.

Saturday, March 9, is a dedicated practice day for all drivers nominated in the series which will allow them to get a feel for the track and set up their karts accordingly.

The club canteen will be open during the day with a barbecue dinner for everybody to enjoy.

Sunday, March 10, practice and racing commences at 10am with the day expected to finish late afternoon and trophies going to the top drivers on the day.

Drivers are striving towards accumulating the highest points across all five rounds to take out the entire series.

It will be exciting to see our local drivers take on some of the best karter’s in S.A on our home track.

Over the summer break club members have been working hard to maintain the grounds and improve the amenities for everyone to enjoy.

Hosting this premier event aids further development of the club and would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors:

Whyalla City Council, Topz Shopz, Clift Freight Service, A1 welding, McLeods Whyalla Motor Co, Hitachi, Inspiration Paints, RI Engineering, Northern Motor Cycles, Foreshore Motor Inn, Avid Engineering, Port Augusta Caravan and Campers, Whyalla Earth Works, Whyalla Caravan Park, DPE Superstore, Veolia and Desmonds Showcase Jewellers.

As the professional motorsport season such as Supercars and Formula 1 kicks off, why not head down to the Whyalla Kart Club and have a look at the sport where most drivers first started their racing careers.
