There were two ladies birthdays that I failed to mention – those being Annette Cotter and Ilona Hansen’s both occurring in January. I’m sure their special days were celebrated in style.
Our miracle lady golfer Annette Cotter played her first round of golf on Thursday only weeks after having had hip surgery and from all accounts played extremely well. Good for you, Annette. It’s great to hear that you can now walk free of pain.
It seems Murray Peters is not faring at all well of late, and has handed over the books re ‘twilight golf’ to Gray Stanton. All members wish Murray a speedy recovery.
From information passed on, I hear one of our lady golfers has recently resorted to having a tattoo impregnated on her ankle. I wouldn’t mind betting that a certain Scottish friend may have had an influence on the decision. However, I have decided not to be any more on hearing of the cruel win at all cost of a ‘horse trainer’ of late.
Summer is stone fruit season and many other types of fruit ripen during that time. Isn’t it great that we can all swap our particular vintages. We have received lemons, peaches, tomatoes, zucchinis etc in exchange for apricots and sultana grapes. Not really a bartering system but just Aussies sharing!
I was saddened by the death of friend Glenice Beaty last week. Glenice was an inspirational lady and sportswoman, she and I having played hockey and tennis together over many years. Although she had multiple health issues, one would never know. Her grit and determination showed in every aspect of her life and she just ‘got on with things’. Glenice was a very clever lady, well respected and a worthy citizen of Whyalla. She will be sorely missed.
Golf ladies will be celebrating Marge Nicholls’ 70th birthday today. You are just a ‘chicken’, Marge!
What a pity that we can’t channel the floodwater that Queensland is experiencing at the moment to SA. I think we’ll have to have a ‘rain dance’ on the golf course that is really evident of a hot summer thus far. Any takers???
