Whilst chatting to one of our top golfers recently, she told myself and friends of an American woman by the name of 'Darlene' (several years ago) who was conducting a coaching clinic at our club for women members. (A substantial fee was charged). Darlene informed our lady golfer that she hit the ball like a washing machine! I enquired 'a twin tub or a fully automatic?'. Beverley replied, 'I don't really know'. If only Darlene could see Bev now! This lass has a very classy classic style of connecting with the ball in all facets of the game. Good for you, Beverley.

It was a welcome increase of male participants for Saturday's nine hole stableford round. Ian Roberts won the competition scoring 19 stableford points. The weather was just perfect for golf although that doesn't always determine a good score. Wednesday's competition was won by Rick Molyneux who impressed with 18 stableford points. The oppressive heat though was off putting to several regulars, however.

The junior end of season presentation event was held on Sunday, November 25, at the golf club and was well attended with the majority of youngsters, parents and coaches in attendance. Some of the parents saw fit to purchase engraved shields that were presented to the community coaches re Shaun Rouse, Gary Yates, Gray Stanton and Allan Slater that was a fine gesture and much appreciated by the recipients. It is always pleasing to club management to hear that Whyalla representatives conduct themselves appropriately. Erin Inglis, Marlee Payne and Josh Inglis received special medals for being great ambassadors for Eyre Peninsula golf and the Whyalla club at several events held in South Australia throughout the year. Special State Primary School Golf (known previously as SAPSASA) medals were presented to all juniors who qualified being, Marlee Payne, Erin and Josh Inglis, Hayden Reese and Toree Holden. Well done! Thanks to Central Deli, Hungry Jacks, Wendy's and McDonalds for their many vouchers and a special thank you to GFG Alliance for their valued sponsorship to assist junior golf.  Hearty warm savouries were enjoyed by all attendees. A Junior MyGolf special week of coaching will take place at the club in the final week of the school holidays - Monday, January 21 to Thursday, January 24 8am - 9am. All children are most welcome. Adverts will be placed on TV and in our local Whyalla News. Take up this offer! The golf club thanks the junior coaches for their time and enthusiasm in promoting youngsters to our great sport. There has been an upturn in functions held at the club recently with president and vice president namely Brian Cotter and Russell Bambridge up to their eyes in setting up. A great job, fellas!
