Allan Slater again supplied buckets of used golf balls collected from all over the course for Bob Clayton to clean and package for sale in the golf shop. Bags of 10 are sold for just $5 with a couple of almost new balls thrown in the mix. This venture has raised substantial funds for the club over the years. Clayton's hot water, detergent and plastic bags etc come for free.
There are only three birthday ladies to celebrate in December, being Glenda Clayton, December 7, Margaret Lewis December 11 and Helma Bambridge on December 24. Enjoy your special day, ladies!
Two seemingly intelligent gentlemen shared a hire club ride-on buggy on Saturday in which to play their nine hole golf round. On reaching the ninth (their last hole) and after teeing off for some reason the buggy would not start. They then walked back to the clubhouse to get another cart in which to push their hired cart back to the shed. Imagine the indignity when a guy from the next group discovered that the gear had been unwittingly put into neutral! Kenny and Brian, you must place the gear in 'drive' for the cart to go forward! Some mothers do ave em!
There would have been sparks flying in one home on Saturday night when hubby had to declare to his wife that he 'borrowed' her ride-on golf buggy to play the nine-hole round and alas red lights started to flash and it was suddenly 'no go'. Hubby had to push the buggy back to the shed then decide how he would break the news to Colleen! Let's hope he will be able to play golf again.
Peter Chapman is back home at last! Chappy has had quite an ordeal of late with health issues but is at last on the mend, and will soon be out on the golf course.
It seems Peter Armes is still playing great golf when he hits the course. He won the competition on Saturday with an excellent score of 71 nett on a countback from Andy Worden. Armes has been a strong competitor on many sports with golf certainly no exception.
There are always 'special' members in any form of club and our golfing community has some very kind and caring such members. Thanks to Maree Farr for her organisation in getting a small group of ladies together on Monday for a chat. It was enjoyable.
Nice to see that Pam Beinke is still making the trip from Cowell each Thursday to participate in the ladies event. That's what I call an enthusiastic golfer.
