Perfect conditions for cycling with no wind and warmer weather put smiles on not only riders’ faces but onlookers and visitors too.
With 17 senior and junior riders and a few minis it was an earnest night of racing.
First race was a heart starter three lap race to check out who was warmed up and ready to go as the name suggests to get the heart going.
In A grade, Wesley Fisher charged over first with Dylan Stanton close behind and Cooper Jacobs in third.
In B grade, Emma Mardon fired away to win with Jemilly Kade in close pursuit and Jack Wisbey in third place.
In the three lap Handicap race in A grade, the winner Clinton Schmidt was followed by Troy Brougham and Dylan Stanton in third riding strong.
In B grade Jemilly K led out fiercely but Jack W was too strong bringing home the win and third was Quenby Schmidt.
In the combined A & B grades Elimination Race or ‘Miss and you out’ a 15 lap race Cooper Jacobs known as the ‘pocket rocket’ who has outgrown this name and his bike on his new bike won with Quenby in second and Dylan in third.
Peter Werner had an injured ankle limiting his performance and Danny Ronan had the night off.
Senior A Olympic Sprint with two teams starting opposite sides of track and the first rider after a lap goes up the track to leave second rider to lead that lap and the last rider to bring it home.
The winning team one was Clinton S, Troy B and Cooper J by a nail bitter from team two Quenby S, Dylan S and Wesley F.
With Commissaire Sean Larsen bringing a variety of races including a Tempo race for the A grade where riders accumulate points by winning sprints with Wesley F on eight points, Dylan S on four points and third Troy B on three points.
The final scratch race for B grade winner was Emma M, Quenby S and Jack Wisbey third.
The delightful junior A’s and ‘B’s in three lap Handicap Riegan Stanton just pipped Ben Kade on the line with Will Thompson third.
In the second three lap Handicap race Will T was a clear winner and Ben K pulled away from Riegan S to finish seconnd and third places.
In ‘mini’s handicap races Rueben Pickering won two races and Fletcher Travers winning one and Darcy Brougham (U9) another and Riley Mardon placing second in a race.
In an Olympic Sprint experience for the juniors the winning team two was Jett Taylor, Casey Cordingley and Ben K from team one Darcy B, Will T and Riegan S.
With the Juniors Elimination race Ben K was most persistent and won with Riegan S in second and Casey C in third – a good effort by all riders.
Mr Mic ‘Fritz’ Fargher was keeping us entertained with magic moments and promoting the track carnival on February 9, 2019 to invite friends and family to join us.
Racing is this Friday, December 7 starting at 6.30pm, no racing on December 14 due to juniors in State Track Championship in Adelaide.
