The Quilters Guild of Whyalla Inc recently donated $2000 to Heartbeat Whyalla, enabling them to purchase a defibrillator for the Whyalla Hospital.

Guild President Janet Clayton presented the cheque at a recent Heartbeat meeting. It’s the second time the Guild has donated money to the local Heartbeat group.

The Guild holds a biannual exhibition at Whyalla Town Primary School Gymnasium and the proceeds from that weekend are donated to a chosen local charity.

The exhibition was held in July and celebrated the Guild’s 30th birthday. The exhibition had over 100 quilts from both current and past members.

The money was raised from entry fees to the exhibition, sale of morning and afternoon teas and a raffle quilt. The total raised was over $400 and the Guild added the additional amount to raise the total to $2000.

Heartbeat Whyalla has a very small committee of dedicated ladies who work tirelessly for their charity.

The Quilters feel it is a worthy cause to support as the dollars are spent in the local community to support and benefit local citizens.

The Quilters Guild meets at Tanderra every market weekend and Tuesday nights and various other times during the week.

Anyone interested in attending  whether you are a beginner or experienced is very welcome to join us to stitch and chat.
