Gifts aplenty in the golf club’s shop

Christmas is fast approaching so we all have to get the thinking caps on re suitable gifts for loved ones. Family members who play golf are easy to please. Pay a visit to our golf shop and the choice is endless. There is an extensive range of apparel on offer from golf shirts, shorts, jackets, golf clubs, golf bags, boxed golf balls and gloves etc. Don't leave it too late!

I see where Debbie Aspey is performing well on the golf course so it looks as though she is following in her mother's footsteps. Elsie was a former ladies captain and a very accomplished golfer. (That is Elsie Stewart!)

An abstract from a newspaper recently reads - London: playing golf is good for your mental health and physical wellbeing and can add years to your life but experts say too many people are missing out. An article published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine prior says evidence shows playing golf regularly can reduce heart disease and stroke risk factors. It also provides aerobic physical activity that can boost strength and balance in older people, is of benefit to mental health and improves the overall health of those with disabilities with a minimal risk of injury.  Give it some thought all of you who are considering taking out membership.

Some of our lady golfers travelled to Port Lincoln recently to compete in the Port Lincoln 'Seafood' Golfing Tournament. The weather was to a golfers liking, not much breeze and glorious sunny days, so I'm sure some great scores emerged from our local ladies.

For Christmas party celebrations re business houses don't delay - book the golf club as early as possible and treat your staff to a quality night out. We have several well qualified caterers on our list in which you may choose. Ring the club for further details on 8645 9109 and speak to Maree our bar manager.

The McLean clan of three mentioned last week, all being in a winning team of four, have been 'outed' as in the Wallaroo golf results published in the Sunday Mail. Four gentlemen by the name of Jamieson won the four man ambrose golf event. Yet another bearing that surname featured in the third-placed team. The motto obviously is 'keep it in the family'.

How lucky were the golf ladies on Thursday when arriving back into the clubroom after their 18-hole game of golf they were greeted by Margaret Herbert who had a large plate of warm home-made sausage rolls and Maureen Heading supplying a huge home-made pavlova.
