Where is Scott Redman?

SA Police will today return to an area west of Kimba on Eyre Peninsula to attempt to answer that question by conducting a further search for the missing 19-year-old.

There have been no sightings of Mr Redman since April and investigators have not been able to find any indication that he is still alive. His disappearance has been declared a Major Crime.

On April 21, he was believed to have been an occupant in a black SUV involved in a brief police pursuit in the region.

After police terminated the pursuit it is believed the vehicle turned off the Eyre Highway onto a dirt road.

Two days later, on April 23, the other occupant of the car was arrested in Whyalla after he hitchhiked from Middleback Range, with the SUV found abandoned on April 25 at Secret Rocks, about 40km east of Kimba.

The associate formally reported Mr Redman missing on April 24.

Police have conducted a number of searches in the area since that time, in addition to making other inquiries in the area and in Adelaide, however they have found no sign of Mr Redman.

Police are this week searching 12sqkm area they believe Mr Redman and his associate were in during the 24 hours after they abandoned the SUV.

Detective Superintendent Des Bray, the officer in charge of Major Crime Investigation Branch, is in attendance at the search location along with police from STAR Group, State Tactical Response Group, Mounted Operations and Whyalla.

“Police are determined to do everything possible to locate Scott and return him to his family, and are committing significant resources to this search in the hope of finding him,” Detective Superintendent Bray said.

“If anyone has information that may assist in locating Scott they should ring Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately.”
