Students at Edward John Eyre High School have been participating in activities aimed at promoting positive body image as part of Love your Body Week.
On Tuesday the Whyalla Youth Advisory Council were on site providing popcorn for students while a ‘chill out’ zone was set up by the Whyalla city Council and Whyalla Headspace.
Indulgent food was provided by a Community Studies class, with the aim of educating students about acting in moderation.
Other activities during the week included nutrition workshops, body combat classes, bollywood dancing, an obstacle course, and a smoothie bike.
Student Wellbeing Leader Tracey Buckley said the activities encouraged students to be proud of what their bodies can do.
“It promotes positive self image and being comfortable with the skin that you’re in,” she said.
“It helps students look after themselves and be proud of how their body looks.”
Ms Buckley said students liked the fact that something different and unique was on offer at school.
“Free food always gets the win as well,” she said.
