Wanderers to host Steel at Swandel Park

This weekend’s games see Wanderers host Steel United at Swandel Park on Saturday in what should be an interesting game.

Wanderers were impressive in their 4-2 win over Westlands in their last outing with Jamie Aiken producing his best performance of the season closely followed by junior Jordy Kuchel who looked every bit a first team player.

In form Fellah missed that game but should be available this week to add some energy to the attacking third.

Steel’s first half against Lions was really impressive and should have been further ahead in their 3-2 loss to the yellow and black.

Once Ledington left the field it went downhill, it just shows how important their captain is and with a extra week’s rest may get up for this after nursing a hamstring injury.

If Wanderers can produce an inspired performance they could push Steel here but the green machine should win.

If Joslyn can get a couple here it could put a cat amongst the pigeons with him only three behind Sullivan in the golden boot race.

If Wanderers can produce an inspired performance they could push Steel here but the green machine should win.

Sunday’s game sees Croatia tackle Westland United at Croatia Park in a game the hosts need to win to keep in touch with Lions at the top of the ladder.

Croatia go into this in pretty good nick with a 10-1 thumping of Wanderers in their last outing.

They played some outstanding football in that game, clean, crisp passing and movement was too much for the opposition at times with the front three in unison.

Captain Dixon will be back for the home side as Croatia go into this full strength.

Westlands started well against Wanderers in their last outing but lack of depth, especially on the bench hurt them in the end.

Both Edmondson and Rhodes left that game sore but the extra week’s rest my see them involved while Anderson will miss due to suspension.

Forward Kalmar showed some good ability at times against Wanderers and has strength and pace.

Westlands have the ability to surprise but Croatia will be favourites.

Catch-up match

Please note that the catch-up Westlands vs Croatia match from earlier this season will be played at Croatia Park on Tuesday night, September 4, with the Reserves starting at 6pm and the A grade at 8pm.
