The Whyalla City Council, GFG Alliance and the state government are inviting the community to help celebrate some upcoming developments in Whyalla.
Premier Steven Marshall and GFG Alliance Chairman Sanjeev Gupta will join Mayor Lyn Breuer on Wednesday, August 15 for two for two significant announcements regarding the economic and infrastructural future of the city.
Mayor Breuer, Mr Marshall and Mr Gupta will be travelling to a site near Liberty’s Primary Steel operations to view an area earmarked for a new venture through GFG’s SIMEC ZEN Energy business.
They are then inviting the community to the marina where there will be an unveiling of the official design for the new jetty along with another exciting announcement regarding the project.
Mayor Breuer said next Wednesday will be another significant day in the history of Whyalla as the city continues to ride a wave of renewed economic prosperity with a range of new, innovative projects.
“We are always honoured to have the likes of Mr Gupta and Mr Marshall in our city and it is a pleasure when they come here to celebrate good news with us,” Mayor Breuer said.
Mr Gupta said he always looked forward to being in Whyalla, even more so when it involved exciting announcements regarding development in the city.
“The announcements we’re going to make on Wednesday are very good news and reinforce GFG Alliance’s commitment to supporting the transformation of Whyalla,” he said.
“Just as importantly, I’m very pleased that we’re able to continue working with the City of Whyalla, the community and the State Government to make Whyalla an even better place to work and live.
“This jetty redevelopment is only the beginning of the exciting developments we plan to play a role in across the city.
“The community of Whyalla will play a vital role in our ongoing and future success, so we’d like to see everyone come out to the marina on Wednesday to celebrate as we all take another step forward for our great city.”
The community is invited to come along to hear the Premier, Mr Gupta and the Mayor speak at an open ceremony on the end of the groyne starting 11.30am on Wednesday, August 15.
