RACE: Whyalla played host to a huge weekend of kart racing as part of the first round of the South Australian State Championship.

Whyalla had a big weekend of racing, as the Whyalla Kart Club held the first round of the 2 round State Title series. There were 79 drivers from around the country battling it out on track, some current state title holders as well as first time contenders. Practice began on Friday with Qualifying and Heats on Saturday and Sunday wrapped up with the last of the heats and finals. There were two local drivers that a worthy of special mention, Cooper Jones winning the KA3 Senior Lights and Brayden Stewart who came second in the KA4 Junior category. Both drivers have been invited to Race of Stars which is being held in Queensland later in the year. Whyalla Kart Club would not have been able to put on such a good event if it wasn’t for our sponsors and volunteers, which we would like to thank. Our next race meeting will be held on Sunday 19th of August and would be a good chance for anyone interest in taking up motor racing, to come and speak with the drivers and club members.
