This weekend’s games see Croatia hosting Steel United at Croatia Park on Saturday in what should be a ripper to start round 14 of the league Championship. Croatia had a huge win last week and with it being tight at the top with Lions, 9 goals will have done their goal difference no harm if it came down to that at season’s end. A hat-trick to Sam Sullivan last week has him firmly in sight of this years golden boot race while Callum Baldwin will put his hand up for selection after missing last weeks match. Steel United breathed a sigh of relief last weekend as they notched their first league win in nearly 3 months and its come at a good time for the club as they try to turn the tables on Croatia here after their narrow loss the the cup final three weeks ago. Alex Michaelides took out man of the match honours against Wanderers last week , he’s been rarely beaten this season and is a consistent tough competitor. Never much in these games and Steel have a new weapon now in Joslyn ,should be close. On Sunday Wanderers tackle Lions at Swandel Park with the away side looking for a victory that could possibly send them back on top depending on Saturday’s outcome. Wanderers depth has taken a hit in recent weeks with a loss of 6 senior players that includes Kutchell, Corney and Brooks that have left the club to Pursue their football elsewhere while top midfielder Ratzlaf is struggling with a reoccurring knee injury.
This hasn’t dampened the mood down at Swandel and even though they lost to Steel last week they’ve shown great improvement in the last two months.
Lions had the bye last week which would have been welcomed as the older brigade can freshen up including Worsnop whose been nursing a back injury of late.
Lions know their in a good position at this stage of the season and won’t want to let a chance like this slip , knowing Lions they’ll fight to the very end.
Wanderers have shown enough of late to suggest they can match it with Lions in this one but the yellow and black will be favourites.
