Whyalla City Council garden crews have been busy this week giving Jessop White Park a bit of a spruce up and some tree maintenance.
An area of trees and shrubs around the tank had got a bit unsightly and some of the low shrubs were dying and getting hard to maintain. These trees and bushes were originally put there to screen the tank.
An area has now been cleared and there will be replanting to re-establish this screen in front of the tank. Jacaranda trees will be planted with some landscaping and mulching to make this area neat and tidy again.
Council’s Supervisor Parks and Open Spaces, Tracy Robertson said there was also some underpinning and pruning work scheduled for trees on the other side of the park near the rotunda.
“It’s all part of the regular maintenance we do for the parks and gardens around the city,” she said.
“This area was in need of a tidy up so we’ve cleared the area and now we will replant. Jessop Park is a beautiful little area and this work will keep it that way.”
