Are you interested in playing a role in a coming of age film, even if you’ve had no acting experience?
Well you’re in luck, because a small crew from Flinders University have extended the casting call for their feature film project “Deep End” to Whyalla.
“Deep End” will be filmed in Cowell, and focuses on a group of young adults living in a rural coastal town. The production stage will take place from the 9th-27th of July.
The crew are looking to fill the following roles with talent from around the region:
Main character roles
- Jake (Male 18-25)
- Kelly (Female 18-25)
Producer Michael Harpas encouraged any couples within the age range to apply for these roles together.
“We are interested in casting a couple to play the roles of Jake and Kelly. This isn’t a requirement of course, we encourage anybody within the age range to apply,” he said.
Supporting character roles
- Tammy (Female 30+)
- Jonty (Male 18-25)
- Liam (Male 18-25)
- Sarah (Female 18-25)
“We’re shooting in Cowell but we want to try and reach the wider community as well. We really want to get people in the regions involved rather than bringing actors down from Adelaide,” Mr Harpas said.
“No prior acting experience is required, the fact that the actors have grown up in the region is very valuable because they have that lived experience of the area.
“They would know more about the area than we would.”
Mr Harpas said the crew chose to film the movie in Cowell because it offers ‘a wide range of diverse coastal and inland locations’.
