Liberal MP David Ridgeway recently visited Whyalla to speak to locals about the issues they think need addressing by the next state government.
He was joined by Giles candidate Mark Walsh and Legislative Council candidate Bernadette Abraham.
Mr Ridgeway stressed the importance of the regions during his trip to Whyalla.
“The regions are a really important part of the economy, they generate about 40 per cent of exports for the state. Farming, fishing, tourism and mining will continue to be important industries in the future,” he said.
Mr Ridgeway said he was expecting the population in Whyalla to grow as GFG Alliance CEO Sanjeev Gupta further invests in the steelworks and the town as a whole.
“Investments that Sanjeev Gupta has made really back our regions, so we would be happy to work with him,” he said.
“You need to have quality facilities for families looking to live here. Families want a good childcare, a good gm, and I think those things will flow here with Mr Gupta.”
