Organisers of the City of Whyalla Pipe Band’s 50th anniversary concert have been overwhelmed with tickets selling out eight weeks before their big night on October 28.
Former band members and general lovers of Scottish music will travel from Adelaide, Port Augusta, Iron Knob, Cowell and other SA regional centres to join local enthusiasts filling the Central Whyalla Football Clubrooms.
Pipe Major and co-founder of the band, John McIntosh said the quick community response to purchase earlybird tickets was far beyond all expectations.
“We were always confident of attracting a good sized crowd, particularly with a large Whyalla population of Scottish residents and descendants, but we never dreamed that we would be turning away prospective patrons so far out from the concert,” Mr McIntosh said.
“While this is a wonderful result, it unfortunately means that no further tickets are available, nor will they be available at the door.”
The band and special guest performers, the Whyalla Singers, are now involved with rehearsals to present a memorable concert.
