According to Whyalla News data, the name James has lead the way for babies born in 2014.
Five boys have been recorded to have James as a second name last year, beating out David which ranked second place for three boys.
The name James is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning is "he who supplants".
For the girls, Rose has been a popular middle name choice with four girls named after the flower.
As for first names, it was a tight battle with not many similarities on record.
For the boys, Jarrod was a popular choice, with Lucas not far behind.
The name Jarrod is a Hebrew baby name, in Hebrew the meaning of the name Jarrod is Rose, as in the flower.
As for the girls, Isla was the most popular first name choice; Isla is the name of a Scottish river and island.
Local mother Shantel Rhind welcomed her second child, Eddie James Rhind, into the world on January 17, 2014.
Miss Rhind said she decided to give Eddie the second name due to family connections.
"When I found out I was pregnant I visited my granddad's grave, I had always thought his name was William but it turns out it was James," she said.
"So I decided I would give the name to Eddie, I love names with family meaning."
Miss Rhind said she could understand why the name was popular as it was a 'very traditional name.'
