Local police are continuing to investigate a vehicle fire that occurred late on Sunday night.

Metropolitan Fire Services responded to reports of a car that was well alight just after 10.30pm.

Two fire appliances attended with eight MFS crew members taking 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. The fire was contained to just the car which was parked in the driveway of a residential address on Bradford Street.

The fire was detected by a person in the neighbourhood who smelt smoke and upon investigation found the car on fire.

Eyre and Western Local Service Area Operations Inspector Andrew Thiele said the person then alerted emergency services.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined with SAPOL investigations ongoing.

“At this stage police are still investigating,” Inspector Thiele said.
