  • Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit - RN/M1
  • Salary $68,481 - $93,439 p.a - Ongoing Full Time

As part of our friendly and supportive work environment, you will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of evidence based, recovery oriented services across the multidisciplinary country Mental Health Service in Whyalla. Delivery care appropriate to the needs of the consumer and the local community, you will work across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings and will utilise and develop a combination of preventative, early intervention, therapeutic and evaluative approaches. These will include individual and family therapeutic approaches, group programs, health promotion and community development programs. You will participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to consumer safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting. Consolidating your knowledge and skills, you will develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. 

The Whyalla Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit, which opened in 2014, was the first of its kind for regional South Australia, providing 6 beds and allowing patients to stay closer to home. When you join our dynamic workforce you will escape the hustle and bustle of city life and be able to take advantage of the endless possibilities for adventure relaxation, recreation and sightseeing. Flinders and Upper North LHN MH embraces the principles of positive psychology and aims to be a flourishing Mental Health service that impacts meaningfully and positively on the communities it serves. To this end, Eyre and Far North LHN MH promotes the principles of PERMA, as described by Dr Martin Seligman in the Adelaide Thinker in Residence Program, for our staff, consumers and partners.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. You must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or hold a qualification in Mental Health practice. With demonstrated experience in engaging mental health consumers and their families in the recovery journey, you will bring the ability to work collaboratively with others, including as part of a multidisciplinary team. Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills will be essential.

To be successful it is essential that you meet the minimum requirements of the role outlined in the Role Description.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements.  COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Emergency Management (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) Directions 2021 to work in SA Health/health care setting.
