Season fires up with T20 action

Season 2017/18 looks to start with a bang this weekend with two days of Twenty20 cricket action.

Schulz Reserve will be hosting the opening games of the season with the games starting from 12:00pm. Saturday – 12pm - Roopena vs West Whyalla, 3pm - North Whyalla black vs North Whyalla White. Sunday – 12pm - North Whyalla Black vs Roopena, 3pm - South Whyalla vs West Whyalla.

The t20 competition sees the re-introduction of West Whyalla into an A Grade competition which is a positive move for the club, however, unfortunately due to injury and unavailability early in the season, Central Whyalla will not field a side in the t20 competition.

North Whyalla has entered two sides which will increase the number of round games for each club and expose some of their reserve players to a higher standard.

North Whyalla will have to go in favourites after winning the last two titles, however don't discount Roopena who have an experienced and dynamic batting line up and are rumoured to have strengthened their bowling stocks.

Next week we will preview the WCA A Grade competition and look at everything that has happened regarding cricket this off-season.
