Revheads Gary and Jake Myers are ready to burn rubber at the Steel City Drag Club NATS event which will be held this weekend.
The Myers boys have travelled down from New South Wales to partake in an exhibition at the event, while Gary will be the judge of the burnout competition.
They participated in a display on Friday afternoon, which saw them showcase their cards – Jake’s ‘Sicko’ Mustang, and Gary’s AX Coupe.
Club Treasurer Mandy Harding said NATS was a ‘big event’ for Whyalla.
“There’s a lot of entries coming from out of town so it’s certainly going to do well economically for the town,” she said.
“It’s all about promoting Whyalla and safe motorsport, and letting the guys and the girls have a lot of fun through doing burnouts.
“We’re expecting up to 100 entries this weekend, and spectator wise it could be 1000 plus.”
Gary Myers has been competing for over 30 years in NATS, and has won seven burnout championships at the event.
“My young bloke is is doing burnouts in the mustang which I used to do many, many years ago, he’s been skidding the car for three years now,” he said.
“I’ve only just finished XA Coupe that I’m now competing with in burnout competitions, this is the second show it’s been a part of since I finished it.
“We love coming to small country venues and meeting the locals.”
