With the predicted heat wave of 38 degrees, tennis was re-scheduled for Saturday night, where old foes Rosewalls and Lavers locked horns in a scorching encounter.
Rosewalls were looking to get back on the winner's list after a narrow loss last week, while Lavers were eager to make a clean sweep of their opponents for the season.
The night kicked off with an intriguing doubles match between McLeod and Clayton of Rosewalls and Smoker and Balnaves of Lavers.
With the doubles reduced to one set because of the hot weather policy, there would be no second chances in this one.
On this occasion, Smoker and Balnaves scraped across the line 7-5 in a tough match, keeping their impeccable doubles record intact.
