One sided scores served

24 Nov, 2009 09:55 AM
Last week tennis was called off due to heat, this week we hoped to miss the forecast rain.

Most teams finished enough matches for a result, scoring valuable points.

Division A teams could have finished more matches this week if they started on time 6pm, with players becoming consistently late making it hard for captains to get their teams organised.

Mixed result this week with many disappointing and one sided scores.

Nicolson took full points, with Zach Day and Jamie Homes outscoring Lachlan Jeffery and Jack Virgo in the first double 6-2.

A closer contest was seen in the next double with Tyler Stringer and Corey Phillis combining well to defeat Stefano Mason-Moia and Billy Parish 6-4.

Some players got a big lesson in their singles this week with Zach Day and Jamie Homes showing no mercy on their opponents.

Tyler Stringer and Corey Phillis are also showing some of the older div A players a thing or two with easy victories, both winning 6-0.

Lachlan Jeffery at last scored a win for his team, paired with Corey Phillis he easily accounted for Zach Day and Billy Parish 6-0, as the last match was incomplete due to the rain.

Seaview got off to a good start winning both doubles.

Tayla Anninos and Jarryd Moore made hard work of their double, just sneaking home 6-5 over Jack Taylor and Antalya Dowling.

T/Kay Maidza had a solid game over Benjamin Homes winning 6-2.

Joey Webster is showing good form also winning over Jonathon Solano 6-2.

Jack Taylor put a score on the sheet for Town with a 6-5 win over Anninos.

No more matches were completed due to the rain, so valuable points went missing.

Both Seaview and Town in the B div were without their number one players this week, so all the players got a promotion.

Town started strongly with a win in the first two doubles and with different partnering this week, good results and efforts were played by all.

Shae Azzopardi and Karly Dahlin took on Kate Hackett and Peter Kwaw, with Shae and Karly winning 6-2.

Kurt Freeman and Nicholas Schulz were too strong for Daniel Durdin and Scott Crowhurst winning 6-3.

Sam Custance and Jesse Whiting combined well with a 6-3 win over Callan Rix and Mitchell Ward.

Kurt Freeman is playing well and never gives his opponents an easy match.

Karly Dahlin and Peter Kwaw had the longest match of the night, Karly taking the game 6-4.

Other matches were started but not completed due to the rain, Town having already scored their victory, getting the two points.

South and Nicolson started late due to players not turning up, with some shuffling of players we managed to get every player a hit.

Kosta Kotsomitis and Chloe Boundey had a surprisingly easy game against Aiden Nicol and Sean Bryant.

Jonathon came up against Jacob Melville-Smith who to date hasn't lost a single, and has been the surprise packet of this competition.

Aiden Nicol and Sean Bryant started off slow, but finished the night off with solid outcomes in their singles.

Rhiannon Nicol, Courtney Faulks and Fraser Leverington didn't get a doubles hit this week but each had a good hit out against each other playing singles.

The match was completed before the rains came, with Nicolson outright winners.

Remember December 17 and 18 is the coaching clinic with Martin Richards, elite tennis coach from Broadview Tennis Club.
