In an unusual twist to this week's Carbath-McLeod's Motor Company Junior Table Tennis competition, dads joined the ranks as competitors against the youngsters.
With the school holidays underway, it was decided to let the parents have a go at the kids.
Some of the oldies garnered fairly forgettable results, like the scores of Andrew Hill and Dean Tully.
The unfortunate pair were beaten in singles by Bailey Todd, Matthew Hill and David Schooling and also failed to fare well in doubles.
The only real success by a parent was shown by father Andrew Hill, skilfully securing victory over son Matthew 11-6, 11-2, 11-8.
By defeating his son, the senior Hill was rescued from the dreaded loser's penalty of paying out for a chocolate.
Bailey's 11-9, 15-13 over Andrew showed he is improving each week.
Ben Pengilley beat father Roger 11-6, 11-7 and is given congratulations.
It was fun to see this kind of evening as a fill-in for the school holidays and it is likely to happen again, but the dads will have to sharpen their play for the next showdown.
Kurt Freeman played well, although going down to one of Whyalla's better players Olly Rosalia.
However, the 8-11, 8-11 loss was a sure sign of things to come.
Jasmine Howard also fired up against Olly, with a 11-8, 11-7 loss in a high standard game.
Watch out Olly, the kids are coming!
The juniors-only matches showed some interesting results, including Kody Rosalia's excellent win against William MacAllan 8-11, 11-5, 11-7.
Kody's great night continued when he later took on Kurt Freeman to win 11-8, 11-7.
A thrilling match to watch was that between David Schooling and Tyler Stopp, which saw David sneak in 11-6, 11-4, 11-8 to take the win.
Tyler then took on Brandon Rosalia to eventually win this fine game 7-11, 11-7, 11-7.
Overall it was a wonderful get together for dads and sons, with mums watching on with a coffee, well done.
