Courts had a bit of a shaky start with Hog Stringer and Julian Simmonds going down to Rosewalls Glenn Clayton and Chriss Mills.
This situation would change with Hog taking out the remaining two of his games.
Both teams were a little bit short in their rankings with each team needing last minute fill ins just to start the day.
Courts held up to the challenge from Rosewalls winning nine games to three.
Leigh Brereton, Andrew Calliss and fill in junior Jordan Rhind winning all three of their games.
The shining light for Rosewalls were Glenn Clayton, Chriss Mills and Mall Vlachoulis taking out the three games.
All games were played as well as possible considering the conditions with all players enjoying the battle.
Hopmans beat Newcombes relatively easy with their strength in doubles again holding them in good stead.
The only singles win for Newcombes was to old steady ahead of Mark Azzopardi over the young graduate in Ryan Hardman in a tie breaker.
Winner for Hopmans were Alan Smith, Nathan Larcombe winning all their matches as well as good form from fill-in Blake Symons winning 2 matches.
